vacuum leaks

what's the best way to check for vacuum leaks in a 98 4cyl le, which is mostlikely causing the weird idle problem. thanks

Spray some kind of flammableon areas that could be leaking and listen for an increase in idle. I use carb cleaner but even WD40 willwork.Don't use something like ether (starting fluid) it's too volitile. You can use a stethescope but I've never had good luck with mine as the overall engine noise makes it hard to pinpoint the leak sound. Some shops have expensive smoke machines that give a visual trace.
