Valve shims
I have a 91 with a 3SFE motor the PO did a valve job and messed a lot of things up I straightened out most of it, my issue is the valve shims. I have 7 that mic out at 13 and 9 that mic out at 22 I know they have to go in the correct order. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
Thanks.
Thanks.
A valve job is going to change the valve position in the valve seat. The result may be needing to readjust the valve clearance.
You can't just install the shims and be done. You need to install a shim, then check clearance and if needed adjust the clearance using the proper shim thickness.
Toyota has a table that gives shim number and its thickness. The table also lays out shim thickness of that installed versus valve clearance measured with that shim to give the number of the shim that needs to be installed in place of the first shim.
