what grade of oil for 90k miles mry?
I use to use Pennzoil.. then i read about "Pennzwax"- so i said.. "F*K ThaT!" .. i tried Havoline- oh god.. that oil brought my RPM to 3000 going 80MPH - other oils i'm usually on 2600-2700 range. So I said.. "F*K ThaT!" Lesson of this post is..
Pennzoil -NOPE!
Havoline- NOPE!
Castrol Syntec- YEPP!
Motul- YEPP!
Royal Purple- HELL YES! I just checked my oil this morning and its still pretty clean @ 2,200 miles.

Why didnt anyone mention Valveoline Maxlife? They came out with " highmileage oils" first. About 4-6 months ahead of most other companys to say the least. Now they even carry a Maxlife Synthetic for die hard car junkies. Go figure..Id recommend them to be honest. Ive seen maxlife usually stop minor oil pan leaks or slight seep-age around gaskets. Ashland oil company aka valveoline has been around a while and knows there stuff specially in the maxlife oil. Im not sure what they did but its like they put a mechanic in a can all over agian.
I have used alot of different oils and never really found the perfect one. They are all decent. Ive never liked penzoil. The " wax" of oils. They use a different type of crude oil which has more something or another than the other oil companys i believe i read somewhere. We all knows what happends to wax after it goes from hot to cold
Valveoline is fairly good id throw right up there with Mobil 1. Royal purple isnt needed in a camry in my opininon. Its no race car. But if you think thats what you want to use.Just remember your paying for it. Amsoil and Mobil 1 are neck in neck i think. I now use castrol due to cheaper prices and good qaulity. Atleast they actually care about a consumer,or so it seems. Theres alot of oil companys with alot of claims. Sludge protection. Superior burn off protection ect ect. Its a difficult subject with lots of opinions and claims.
As far a oil grades.
If you live in a cold weather climate 5w30 is your best bet. Its lighter at cold weights which help protect the engine by reaching the top of the engine faster than a grade 10w30 persay. (Most engine damage is cause by a cold engine) 10 W 30 works fine in toyotas with no problems unless you live in cold climates. If you put that in my ford recommended 5w20 weight engine. Youll hear a bunch of clanks and rattles in the morning for about 10 secs. If you have leaks i recommend you get them fixed. Sure 20 w 50 will help slow it down but it wont circulate in the engine like the recommended grade of oil should causing premature wear.
All in all its up to you

i had a coupon for valvoline regular oil and i used it for a while before my mechanic prematurely changed my oil....eventhough i said i didnt need an oil change (didnt charge me)...
for the 1500 miles i drove on the stuff i didnt think there was anything significant to point out. its more costly than a few other brands out there so maybe they do have good stuff.
i am currently using maxlife transmission fluid in one of our cars.
I do know that a lot of toyota service centers use castrol so why not? seems to be a reliable brand that has a reasonable price tag.
except at my local wal-mart it now costs more than mobil1.

so wal-mart stopped selling royal purple which makes me sad...but since they lowered the prices for mobil1...i just grabbed a jug of 10w-30 highmileage fully syn. for about 20 bucks. im a happy camper. haha
