2002 camry 5spd...Need advice on transmission
Yesterday i was driving to work when my camry started losing power. Power in the sense that every gear was slow starting out and accelerating. The car would get up to speed, but it didnt pack the punch it normally would. There were small convulsions before the acceleration would match the gas i was giving it. Its not that i cant drive stick, my car has something wrong with it. I have refrained from driving, and the check engine light did come on. My camry has 89,000 miles on it, i have kept up with everything but the transmission and fluid. My owners manual neglects to mention anything on transmission maintainance, nor could i find the right information on line. I know this is probably a no brainer for a lot of people out there. Anyone out there have any thoughts or advice?

First, get any trouble codes read. AutoZone and perhaps other parts stores will do this for free.
The problem may not be the trans.
Typical trans maintenance is to make sure the fluid is clean and has a red color. Trans fluid break down with heat the result being trans problems if not changed. Change the fluid at around 30K miles to prolong life. If the fluid is black, have it changed.
