Default 2003 Camry LE Cruise Control issue

My 2003 Camry LE has a cruise control issue. It turns on properly and works fine in the beginning. Once you touch the brakes, and if I don't re-engage the cruise, while driving along for a minute or two, then the cruise control light starts flashing on the dashboard. If you push the button to turn it off then on, it will re-set and work fine. However, it will not re-engage if you try to just set the cruise again without turning it off then on. This just started a couple of days ago. All the brake light bulbs work fine. Two weeks prior, I replaced the brake light switch because the brake lights were stuck on and draining my battery. The car only has 108,000 miles on it and otherwise runs perfectly. Any ideas?

The cruise system has its own diagnostic system. Try to find an ODBII reader that can check cruise codes on Toyota's.

Default 2003 Camry 5 Speed Cruise Won't Come On

I had the steering shaft with the 2 small u-joints on my Japan made '03 Camry replaced, it was stiff due to corrosion. When the car came back the Cruise no longer worked. I suspect that while the tech when under the dash he accidentally unplugged the Cruise wiring bundle from the steering column to where ever it plugs into under the dash. I didn't notice this until months later as the car is driven by my daughter away at college.

I already checked the obvious fuse and switches and they are not the problem.

I simply can't find the presumed wire bundle for the cruise control that resides in the steering column and wherever it plugs into.

Help please in locating it.

Typically the connection is under the plastic covers over the steering wheel area. The area where the cruise control handle is.

Default Thank You !

Thank you Toyomoho, I'll look and see what's going on under the plastic covers. Ron
