Question 2003 Camry rebuild?

My 2003 Camry leeks oil pretty bad. I'm looking to do a rebuild. Any suggestions. Small cam? Cold air intake?

I don't know of any performance cams for these cars but I am curious. Do you know of some? I would probably pass on CAI, that can always be added later. Don'y expect much out of this engine unless you turbo charge it.

Completely rebuild or just fixing leaks?

HP cost money, how much do you want to spend?

The Scion uses the same engine model but with mods. If looking for real performance gains suggest investigating Scion upgrades.

Crower makes cams. To get max HP with cams may require replacing ECU with something programmable or adding something called an add-on ECU. This allows modifying A/F ratios and timing.

Not a big fan of cold air intakes as dyno finds HP gains are nil.

You can easily spend $4K just for parts to increase HP. Cams are $5-600

I concur with Patonium in looking to a turbo which are readily available but typically for Scion. If going this route check into if the unit will fit Camry engine compartment without modifications.

If taking the engine apart, upgrade pistons. Stock pistons can have oil ring holes carbon up resulting in high oil consumption.

Read up on block head bolt threads pulling out. Installing Time-Serts fixes the problem.

There are longs threads on both subjects at this site and others.
