Unfortunately, auto electrical skill not in my wheelhouse. I will take the vehicle in to dealer along with this information. I'm pretty well convinced the problem is with the hood latch sensor. It seems odd that all the articles I've come across dealing with the alarm tripping issue never mention the effect of direct sun and heat on the problem. Thanks for the input.

I read in a 2018 Camry Toyota owners manual that light and sound would trigger the alarm. Perhaps your year is different.

If you research these alarms you can determine where the unit is located in the car and get the specific model. It might be called an RS3200 VIP. Toyota seemed to use the same alarm in many of its car models. If you find the alarm name you can find an manual on that alarm having more detail then the cars owners manual. The dealer should also know this or their parts person.

You could try wrapping electrical tape around the hood switch to push the button further into the switch.

Angry Local Toyota Not Helpful with Hood Latch Sensor Problem

Parts employee could not find any information on the hood switch sensor, even with the help of the parts manager. Suggested I contact Toyota.

Online Toyota parts dealer website lists the hood latch description as for a vehicle with alarm. The sensor may be part of the hood latch.

The alarm computer box has an adjustment (using a screwdriver) for the glass breakage sensor sensitivity. The box might be under the dash in area of steering column.
