Unhappy 86 Camry has electrical drain?

My 86 Camry is going through alternators. It will be keeping up and then out of the blue won't have enough power to start. The battery checks out ok so I'm back to replacing the alternator-putting out only 11.4 volts. The car has power everything, including sunroof and antenna which was broken off before I owned it. Has anyone had a similar problem and possible drain on the electrical system?

Cool

YES!, alt light coming on- thanks! I almost drove it to town but now don't want to chance it. I'm pulling the alternator instead today to have it checked with a load on it. I'm also replacing the wires from the alt to battery- the rubber cap at the alt is melted, so I wonder if the wire s got fried.
