I am new to the forum and I am hoping someone can help me out.
I need to replace the power antenna on my 1996 Camry wagon.
I have read all the forums about just changing the mast and that the actual motors are a piece of junk and how some people suggest just disconnecting, or installing a universal one etc.

What I need to know is how do I remove the interior panal to gain access to the power antenna motor so I can decide which replacement avenue to take.

What is wrong with the antenna now?

 

The antenna has not worked for a few years.
It will not go up and down.
The mast got bent and finally snapped a while back and is now taped together.
The mast is about half way up.

 

If the motor works, the mast can be replaced without taking the motor apart. An internet search will find posts and perhaps videos on changing out the mast which is available from the dealer or aftermarket.

If the motor is bad suggest buying used from a junk yard, eBay, etc. You can install an aftermarket unit but in my opinion these are not as good.

Or install a manual retractable mast available at auto stores or on the internet. The motor is easy to remove but before doing so find the info on the internet on how to do this.
