Default Camry Auto 99 4cyl holds at 4k in 4 gear.

I have a Camry 1999 automatic 4cyl 2.2l.

When I am in 4 gear with gas pedal fully depressed, the engine holds at around 4k rpm and stays around 100mph.

It seems like there is a rpm limiter or something. Don't know. I want the Camry to be able to ride off the limiter in 4th gear.

There is a RPM limiter but assume it is for the car red line RPM. Not sure about MPH limiter if so it would be around 120 mph assuming the car can go that fast.

If the car accelerates OK it might be the engine can pull any more HP to go faster.

Ok, might be the HP of the car. It has 170k miles on it. Does it make a difference if I put the highest octane fuel in it for top speed/HP?

What is the recommended octane for this car, I always put in the lowest/cheapest grade.

it depends on what is recommended to put... its better be safe, not sure if you use high octane fuel.

I doubt the gas octane would make any difference unless the engine was pinging. Most owners run the cheapest gas they can find.

I fixed the problem. The way to do a speed cut run is to turn "O/D off" and fully depress the gas pedal. This forces the automatic to not go into overdrive (4th gear), and keeps the engine in the power range. Since this was a old vehicle, the throttle cable had to be adjusted.

EricTheCarGuy has a great tutorial on this:
YouTube - ‪$0.00 Performance Upgrade‬‏

Once I had done all of these mods, ruining on 1/4 tank of gas of 87 octane, the car will go from 0mph all the way to 112mph.

112mph is the speed cut, and a noticeable engine brake is applied at that speed.
3rd gear, at 112mph is 5,500rpm on the motor.

Have fun with top speed runs in your Toyota Camry!
