Default Can use Aluminum foil tape to stop Power Steering returning hose leak?

Hi Everyone,

There is leak from Power Steering returning hose of my car, can see the drain on a metal hose, touch with it with finger, lots of wet. After one eventing, fluid dropped on ground just under location of this metal part, similar amount as it need to refilled.

The leaking metal part length is about 20 CM, the left part of the whole returning hose.

Just wonder, if is it worth to try warp Aluminum Foil tape (the tape use on Air Conditional Tube) on the metal hose, in order to stop the leak from metal hose of PS?

Any comment would be appreciated.

The glue on the aluminum tape will not stand up to the PS fluid.

Is the metal tube cracked, a joint leaking, etc?

Its a low pressure hose. You could try to surround the leak with a slit rubber hose and apply hose clamps.

Try Rockauto for cheaper parts prices.

Thanks for the explanation, really make sense.
Just raise another question, is it safely to wrap the metal return hose with rubber tube or other things? Because the return hose might be heated when car running, I guess the metal hose is used to radiating heat. Wrap with rubber might prevent radiating.

And, any idea, what is the diameter of the metal part of return hose?

I have found a 5/8 inch rubber hose, I need to cut it off and surround on the return hose

Heat transfer would be a minor side effect of the metal tubing.
