Exclamation Fake GAs: 26 Camry LE fuel economy

We know what the EPA is, now what is your real world economy?
My 2026 Camry LE (all new Camry's are hybrid, now) is advertised as 53 city 51 hiway.

I started out, with "above 50 numbers", but it went down to in the low 40's (aka 41, 42, mpg and even some in the upper 30's). and I wondered why.

First, I thought there was something wrong, such as a premature failure degradation of the hybrid battery. No
Then, I though it was due to weather, being cool the past couple weeks. Partially, not as much as I thought. It was not that cold.

I called the dealer. (service department). This guy knew his stuff. You just know, when they are BS'ing you. He explained many gas stations "still have winter fuel" which is formulated much different that "summer fuel". Winter fuel does not work "well" in summer and vice versa.

But the real difference: Top Tier gas. Since this car only has about 1400 miles on it, I did not see how "anything" can be clogged in valves, fuel system, etc. that fast. I was wrong. Worse, there is "fake" top tier gas. Some stations, are not operated by "rules" but by how cheap the owners are. They have independents (fruckers) fill their tanks, which display "a brand name" known to be top tier. That is, they sell fake top tier gasoline. I saw a report on top tier and they advised buying from stations "who dont let local owners" make decisions such as allowing "junk gas" in their tanks from independents. So, I went to Quick Trip, which they had explained is managed nationally, not by local people who can just call independents and tell them to fill the tanks. (for less), even when labeled "top tier". That isnt done with company owned stations, who dont do that.

After a fill up with QT top tier, my fuel economy went back over 50 again. Fake top tier gas is a real thing. We have fake oilve oil, fake news, fake honey, and lots of other fake stuff, so why not fake gas? Yep.

After the fill on QT, my fuel economy was 52.3 mpg. It wasnt about my Defender 2 tires, I switched out. Its all about fake gas.
