I own a 2008 Camry LE with 109k miles. I'm not an enthusiast. I want this car to last a really long time. I change the oil every 3k miles religiously, with full synthetic, and run fuel injector cleaner every 6 months. Just put new tires on it. Found out the ignition coil wire connectors were all broken a week after buying it, when I lost acceleration. No biggie. I chopped some junkyard connectors (and paid of course) and soldered all 16 wires and wrapped them in heat shrink. Works great. What I'm getting at, is I have no idea the last time the coolant, brake fluid, trans fluid, and p/s fluid were exchanged. Hoses and belts all look great. What does the 100-120k mile maintenance involve? And what can I check out myself to knock off some of the cost?

One can do a paper towel test for the trans and PS fluid to determine approx condition plus an electrolysis test on the coolant. The internet will have how to do this.

If none were ever changed might start now. Good idea to change all the trans fluid at 100K. PS fluid can be drawn out of the reservoir and replaced between drives until it becomes clear. The corrosion inhibitors in the coolant degree over time, the antifreeze chemicals do not. Most never change the brake fluid if having time its a good idea.

Do the trans first. PS is easy to do. Coolant when you have time. Brake fluid last.
