Just bought a 94 camry today, got a good deal on it from a friend.

Runs great, shifts fine..

But when you go to start it, sometimes it works fine, sometimes you have to hold the key on start and smack the steering wheel... then it starts right up.

He told me this, i thought "ok, no big deal" thinking the ignition switch was on the tree..

But it's not..

Any ideas?

 

Have you tried smacking anything else in the car?

Closer to the ign key, the gear selector arm.

Is the trans a stick or auto?

 

Auto. Didn't think of it, i'll try wiggleing the shifter.
