Default No heat blowing.

Hello, can someone please offer suggestions.
My 1995 Camry LE wagon began blowing only cold air last night. This morning I checked coolant levels and they are correct, also checked for air bubbles- none. The dash temp gauge reaches and stays midway and the blower still blows fierce.
I have read a few of toyomoho's help and replies on similar situations although none were regarding this model but may not make much of a difference anyway.

I have read that if the temp gauge stays midway, then the thermostat and water pump can be ruled out. I read that one cause can be the hoses going into the firewall and just checked after running the car a while. the top hose (more to the right of the two) is cold and the bottom / left one is warm / hot. I have added two pictures for someone to please verify these are the hoses to be checked as I have little idea.
Can a cold hose be the reason for no hot air blowing?

When engine is running normally the upper thick hose coming from the radiator itself is hot...should the lower thick hose from the bottom of the radiator be hot also, as it stays cold? maybe this is not part of the problem. Thank you.
Thank you for any help.

Below are the 'photos but I don't know why they are so large.

Your photos show the heater control push pull cable is disconnected from the heater control valve. Is this by intent?

toyomoho,
Thank you! Brilliant catch!
I don't usually fiddle under the hood yet on October 10th the mechanic cleaned the EGR system and valve (hoping it would help with shaking in neutral-it didn't), so maybe he knocked against that cable, but I located it and just popped it back on- we have heat.
So grateful and glad I sent a decent enough picture for you to find the cause.
Many thanks.
