The term "Lifetime" is of course subjective. The fluid is synthetic and lasts longer.

Toyota uses a color chart to compare to fluid color. The darker the fluid, the worse its condition.

The trans is not sealed, it doesn't have a dipstick. Draining and refilling is similar to a manual transmission. The fluid level however needs to be checked at a certain fluid temp (fluid warmed up).

If a 2013, to soon to drain and refill. If not towing synthetic fluid can last 70K (in my opinion, Toyota states longer). If possible use a color chart, an internet search may find it.

Use only the fluid type specified by Toyota.

There may be a sticker on the drivers side door listing trans model which may start with a "U", such as U151E, U250E, U251E, etc.

I figured I would drain and refill around 40K miles to be safe,i just watched a video of another WS fluid that was drained at 25K miles, and was dark brown that early, kinda scares me,i always OVER maintain my vehicles, had I known of this transmission I would have bought a Honda Accord!!,THEY have a simple drain and refill procedure, these sealed trannys are just marketing gimmics to "sell" the car as less expensive to maintain, but who wants to buy an NEW TRANSMISSION just after the warranty runs out NOT ME

The trans pan holds 1/3 of the total fluid, the torque converter the rest.

Suggest doing several drain and refills to get the fluid clean.

Cool

COST is not a factor in my decision to drain and fill my tranny, yes my car is new,but already has 15,ooo miles, and I plan of doing a drain and refill myself with WS fluid at 36,001 miles when my basic warranty runs out, does anyone know if I can just drain the fluid COLD,and replace the fluid COLD without all this Tempeture crap I read everywhere, and having to do this and that, and hook a computer to the car,im aware that only 1/3 or less fluid comes out,i plan on doing this procedure about 5000 miles apart to keep the fluid fresh, call me overly paranoid, but ive always had a tranny that had a simple drain and refill (99 Nissan Altima),and I had 250,000 miles on that tranny without a single slip,or problem, and I want the same for my Camry-anyone know the simple way of doing this?????

The gear indicator "D" light can be used to check for correct fluid temp range.

Trans cold, try draining into a measured container and refilling with same amount. Make sure you account for the fluid left in the container after filling.
