Default Tail Light Problem

Howdy,
Posted on the DIY forum as well.
I have a 97 Toyota Camry with over 333,000 miles on it.
The tail light warning light began to come on when I brake and it stays on after I release the brake. I checked and all the bulbs are okay. What else do I need to check out?

Suggest the following:

Replace all bulbs as sometimes a working bulb causes problems.
Check bulb sockets for corrosion resulting in poor electrical contact.
Check harness wiring for damage where harness transitions from chassis to trunk lid.

thanks for replying. I did notice some discoloration on part of the plastic housing holding one of the bulbs on the right hand side. Once I break, the light comes on and stays on and later goes off as I continue down the road.

Sensor activation is a common problem when braking. All lights can still work but the sensor light comes on after braking.

Follow the advice in the previous post and determine if the problem goes away.

On rare occasions the sensor unit itself is bad.
