2010 Toyota Camry Fuel Economy Increased To 33 MPG
I purchased a 2010 Camry LE with the 2.5L I4 engine a month ago. It now has just under 900 miles on it. I had some concerns about whether or not the I4 would have enough power under regular driving conditions. Now that it has enough miles on it to push it a little harder, I am satisfied with the performance. The last 200 mile run was about 90 % highway (65 to 75mph), and the rest city driving. I got exactly 34 MPG. I sure can't complain about that. The 6 speed Auto transmission shifts so smooth on normal starts, I have to watch the tach to see what it is doing. The tach shows 2000 rpm at 65 mph. This is about the same engine speed as I get with my 2004 Sienna with the v6 engine and 5 speed Auto transmission. However, the Camry gives me about 10 miles per gallon more than the Sienna Van under similar conditions. At this time, I am really satisfied with my choice.
My camry always gets way higher mpg than what its suppose to get. Ive pushed my car to the limits to see what I can get off of one full tank till my gas light comes on. And so far Ive gotten 550 miles till the light on my 02 camry 4cyl. Ive seen many american cars like the malibu for example come into my shop and that digital gauge that some of them have shows them only getting 26-28 avg mpg. To me thats false advertisement lol. Non of my friends that has a malibu, altima, fusion and accord can get 550 miles till the light like I can on my camry. 146k miles and still going strong.
In addition to our Car Reliability Survey, TrueDelta conducts a real-world fuel economy survey that, unlike others, includes driving style and driving conditions. Results so far for the Camry:
Real-world Toyota Camry gas mileage
No 2010s yet. Hopefully soon, so we can see if there has been a real-world improvement.

I guess not many folks look at this forum any more, not many recent posts. I'd like to comment on mpg with my new 2.5 6sp auto le. I have never gotten more than 26 highway and as poor as 20 hwy and around 18 in town. I drive like the old man I am and have had this in the shop all tests show it is perfect. Edmonds would not allow my review to be printed because I told the truth about what a piece of crap this car really is. The 26 was in Kansas at 65 mph with no wind. My shop told me to stop using fuel with ten percent ethanol in it well good luck finding that. I long to have my old full sized pick up back
26 hwy is not good for a 4 cylinder.
The new EPA numbers are 24 combined, 21 city and 30 hwy.
If you are using ethanol expect a 10% drop.
The previous model Camry's with the 5S-FE engine could get a realistic 35 MPG highway and 26 combined, this was using 10% ethanol.
So much for progress.
