1992 camry strut install

RE: 1992 camry strut install
I just ordered Tokico HP(those blues) and eibach pro kit, total was 460 shipped. Not bad As far as the bar that goes to the strut from the sway bar, I am good to go probably, as Sears had already removed and put back on the struts recently, so they should be nice and unstuck for me to take off I hope

Yeah my camry had bad strut mounts thank goodness not the whole strut. But toyota charged me with labor and parts of $488.00. Thats replacing the two front strut mounts and compressing the springs. Looking at what they did looked pretty difficult.

I think the ride is excellent on the Monroe's. The kits were about $180 per side which seems expensive to start, but if you need most of the parts (strut-60,spring-70,bellow-15,mount-40, etc) plus shipping or having to go to multiple stores, it turns out to be a pretty good deal. Plus you don't have to do any spring compressing. For me, who only has a couple of hours to spare here and there to work on my car, it's was a real time saver too.

RE: 1992 camry strut install
a little update. I am going to be removing the struts today from the car, as i am now set up with an impact wrench to make using the spring compressor an easier job. I have a question about this however. I bought the Tokico HP blue strut inserts for my car, but I have never before needed to replace inserts. Can someone tell me if the camry's strut inserts are difficult to remove, or do I have to have a shop do that for me?
thanks!

RE: 1992 camry strut install
New update..yeah it has been a while, but I haven't gotten to do much work on the car as I liked to. I replaced the fronts without problem. Opened up the assemblies and changed out with the tokicos. When I got to the rear I realized, and with a little googling...they don't come off..They come welded shut from the factory! Grr!! So I have 2 rear tokico shocks that I cannot use now. Can someone show me a link to a place I can go to just get the strut assembly for the rear? KYB or otherwise? I called a few places, but don't know who to trust, and who is knowledgable. I would prefer to only buy the strut I think it is, and put my tokico inserts in and finish the install..but if I have to I willl deal with buying new assemblies with the insert installed. I am going to reuse my old assembly's mount, and I have new springs ready to go. link and part numbers would be very helpful!
Thanks!
Thanks!
