Exclamation Black residue on tire from brakes

I have black residue coming from my brakes and lands on my rim. After i washed the car it reappered. It does wipe off easily. Any idea of what this may be.

When the brakes are used, some of the brake pad/shoe material abrades and leaves dust.

Search the internet for brake shoes/pads less prone to making so much dust.

Many car owners complain about this thus brake manufacturers have responded with different products.

Remove tire look at the suspension and drive train. Perhaps something is grinding away at the outer CV joint boot or some other strange issue.

If brake dust, some pads still use asbestos thus don't breath the dust.
