Default Brake pads shims bent after braking?

Changed front brakes and rotors on 1/12/16 and immedidatly after change when i stopped i heard a popping and clicking noise coming from front left and right brakes when applied. So last night 2/2/16 finally got time freed up and took tires off front and calipers and all four front brake pad shims are bent and off of pads. Took some pliers straightend the shims out reattached them on the pads tightened lubed up guide pins etc... Went for a test drive then bam heard clicking and popping again going to take tires back off tonight and see if the shims fell off again if so can i drive it with no shims? Or should i epoxy shims on to the back side of brake pad? Any help would be great.

I have a 2001 toyota camry le 4 cylinder

Toyota shims may not fit aftermarket pads.

If having shim problems remove them. Their sole purpose is to control brake squeal.

Gluing will not work as the shim as a separate part depends vibration. When glued there is no separation between pad and shim.

If you do get brake squeal suggest using Toyota brands pads and shims.
