Default Rust question

I have a 2004 Camry that I purchased new and it has 125K on it now. Alway garaged. I back the car into the garage near a wall that seeps moisture on the drivers side of the car. This side of the car has rust poking through on the drivers side rear door and over the wheel well. On the underside the majority of the car is rust free except in the left rear quarter panel closest to the wall that seeps moisture. Would putting a dehumidifier in the garage near this wall help to prevent the spread of rust?

Where is he rust, inside or outside the fender? Test the moisture to determine if has a acid pH level.

It is rusting from the inside out. The one over the wheel wel is from crud getting stuck during winter driving. The rear door is rusting all around the door handle from the inside out.

Rust it to metal like cancer is to living animals. It typically doesn’t go away on its own and tends to only get worse with time.

If the rust is just on the surface it can be dealt with reasonable well. If it has worked its way through the metal then the fix is more challenging.

A dehumidifier can help but not sure it’s the primary cause of the rust. An issue with a dehumidifier is the moisture is collected in a pan. The pan will need to be REGULARLY drained manually or by hose that drains outside the garage. Try to determine if the moisture pH is acid or base which can accelerate rust.

Are you able to attend to the rust such as cleaning the area, neutralizing the rust, priming and painting which works reasonable well for surface rust?.
