2003 Camry LE (no JBL amp) - Replaced Radio - Poor FM Reception
#11
Thanks!
So, I think the summary here is that the 2003 Toyota Camry LE with the OEM radio that has no JBL amplifier probably has some kind of a AM/FM signal booster built into it to work with the window mounted antenna. My Camry did not have a "diversity antenna" which is where there are two antenna connections. And my radio wiring did not have an orange or a brown wire connected with the antenna...no external antenna amplifier.
To use an aftermarket radio with the very basic non-diversity window antenna, you're going to need to either supplement that antenna with an antenna booster amplifier OR consider using a different aftermarket antenna to get better reception.
i went with a universal FM booster from Amazon (posted prior) and it solved my issue. I don't have any AM signal now but I dont care about that.
