Default 2010 Camry Tranny

just bought a 2010 4cy. XLE--is the tranny sealed on this car, as there is no tranny fluid dipstick, and am I correct to assume that there is no routine tranny maintenance??

you can access the drain bolt, all transmissions have one
you need to find the transmission dipstick from the dealer
, find the service manual online somewhere

Default 2010 Camry Tranny

If you stand in front of your car, hood open, the transmission fluid dipstick is in front, to your right. The dipstick may be slightly hidden by a radiator hose. If you follow the radiator hose on the right side of your motor, your hand should bump into the dipstick. It may be colored orange.

My opinion is that you have a brand new car and you don't need to worry about checking, adding or changing your tranny fluid anytime soon. Just drive it.

Hi, new Camry owner here (4cyl 2010 LE), bought used with 90k miles. Trying to determine whether trans fluid needs to be changed for 'normal' type driving. Manual mentions to change it if used for towing, etc. but not mentioned otherwise, but Haynes manual says to change at 60k. (My other cars are all Hondas, where changing trans fluid is a way of life for 6cyl engines.)

Per the Haynes manual, it looks like huge pain in the neck to do it, so I don't want to tackle something like this unnecessarily.

Interested in the perspectives of veteran Camry owners.

Does the trans have a dipstick? If not the fluid is drained and refilled like a differential via ports.

The fluid should be synthetic which is stated be "lifetime". Toyota uses a color chart to compare fluid color to the chart and determine the condition. The darker the color the worse condition the fluid.

The pain is the trans needs to be refilled. Then operated until a certain fluid temp is reached then any excess drained out to obtain a set amount.

My own two cents is the more frequent fluid changes the better say every 50K for synthetic. Warn out or overheated fluid is the No 1 cause of trans failure.

Suggest a Haynes manual which should have the procedure.

Use the correct fluid as Toyota uses something call World Standard (WS) which is synthetic. There may be equivalents.
