I have a camry and the latch by drivers foot and the key won’t unlock the trunk. I been able to open trunk by taking apart the latch. Nothing seems to be broken. I put everything back together and the trunk still won’t open. Could the latch just fail? It seems like it is a very sensitive piece and a small failure will not allow it to work.

 

Debris can get into the locking assy and cause this issue. Clean it with some kind spray can solvent to flush out any debris then spray on a lock lube.

Also look as the lock assy for any coil springs that have broken.
