Trunk lid opening

Trunk lid opening
I have a 2011 Camry LE and the darn trunk lid only opens about a foot. My wife keeps getting whacked in the head (maybe a good thing in the long run) and the complaints are getting beyond my ability to cope. Can the lid be adjusted to fully open? I don't mind having to pay a professional to do it, I just need to know if it can be done professionally. BTW, this is my second camry. the other is a 2002 with 147K on it, and still not broken it yet.

Based on other years of Camry the trunk appears to working as designed. The owners manual may have more info.
Determine if the trunk lid is binding or stiff at the hinges which would limit travel when opened.
With trunk lid open look under the chassis area the hinges are mounted on for two steel rods (torsion bars) that run between hinges. These rods twist to apply torque needed to rotate the hinge and move the trunk lid up when unlocked. Compare one installed rod with the other looking for differences caused by damage or if something is caught between the rod and chassis.
The trunk opening mechanism has no adjustment.
