Default Should I Add a Kill Switch to My 2000 Camry?

I just bought a 2000 Camry LE Sedan. It has a VIP tag on window and "security" sign and LED light to the left of the steering wheel.

However, the keys that came with the car are aftermarket and plain, all metal keys, ie not FOB, though a factory remote door un/lock with panic button came, too.

I'm worried about novice thieves using screwdrivers and/or hotwiring my car for joyriding, chop shop parts, and/or other crimes.

Fortunately for me, Prius catalytic converters are the top stolen item in my general area nowadays.

My mechanic suggested adding a kill switch.

Is that overkill?

If not, would you recommend a starter or fuel injection kill switch?

Thanks

Place a switch inline with the power wire to the fuel pump. The wiring runs down the drivers side rocker panel, take out the seat and carpet. You can put the switch where you want.

2000 Camry LE Sedan with VIP tag on window and "security" sign and LED light to one side of the directing wheel. In any case, the keys that accompanied the vehicle are standard, ie not FOB, however far off entryway un/lock with emergency signal came, as well. I'm stressed over amateurs utilizing screwdrivers and additionally hotwire my vehicle for driving around, stolen car dismantler parts, as well as different violations. Luckily for me, Prius exhaust systems are the top taken thing in my overall region. My repairman proposed adding an off button. Is that over the top excess?

A switch on the fuel pump electrical power can be a good idea. I have done this on cars. You may not avoid a thief damaging you car to try to start it but they most likely will not get the car unless they tow it (which happens).

If going the switch route put the switch in a non-obvious location to a thief. Since they steal cars for a living they may also know the most likely locations of these switches.

At times I have removed fuses from a car when parked to make it unable to start.

The idea is to slow the thief down enough so they move onto easier pickings.
