Speedometer Issues
I have a 2003 Toyota Camry LE 2.4L 4 cyl (manual) and about a year ago my alternator went out, and then after replacing that, a few weeks later my speedometer stopped working. Went in and replaced the speed sensor and everything went back to working for the next 6 months. Then it started to randomly stop working again, so I took the speed sensor out and everything looked fine so I put it back in and again for another 6 months it worked perfectly fine. Now the speedometer randomly stops working for a few days and then goes back to working. Any ideas?
No we haven’t looked into any of the circuitry stuff yet so that’s an idea, weren’t completely sure where to start. The weather varies when it goes out, at first it was summer, then early spring, and now winter.
The most common causes of a speedometer that stopped working include are a faulty speed sensor, a broken gear on the speedometer, damaged wiring, or a faulty engine control unit.
DID YOU KNOW: Sometimes you might have an issue where the speedometer is working, but odometer is not

Probably your speed sensor or wire harness.

the only thing i can say is my speedometer just totally flat out broke - i had to get a new one (https://www.toyotapartsprime.com/ , got a good deal and fast shipping. i just had to enter my vin). after that my problems were solved entirely. but for you OP it seems intermittent. since the electrical components were not checked for, that would be the next thing i would suggest to be done. closer inspections should yield an answer hopefully.
