Unhappy Steering rack boot problems

Does anyone know the size of the steering rack boot? .I'm trying to fit one and it doesn't want to slide on. Thinking of getting the next size up. Any ideas?

Slide on what, the connecting rod or rack housing?

Did you ask for the boot by make/model/year?

supposed to be very snug fit. on the rack n pinion. spray it inside with some soapy water, makes it slippery, and start at the angle to the rack, get one side on, and sorta screw it on all the way, with back and for movement, constantly pushing it onto the seat. it should stretch a little bit, and then lock in place. rack has grove for boot and clamp, right? and boot has ridge inside for that grove, right? that's what makes it harder to put on. you have to stretch ridge over the wider rack edge. btw, shoe horn might help. or even spoon. dull butter knife.

oh, and you can make it more pliable with hair dryer on high.
