Default ENGINE LIGHT IS ON

The "Check engine light" has popped on my 96 Camry and I took it to Autozone for testing which readoff the code P0441. Also, the report gave me possible solutions to repair this problemand it seems the most expensive cost would be to change the charcoal canister.

Autozone suggested checking all the hoses first and if all were okay then, the EVAP canister must be changed.

Can I change this part myself or must the carbe taken to the dealer to repair and is there a TSB from Toyota regarding this part.If so, will the dealer replace this part free of charge. The TSB is EG003-98 on a website called "alldata.com?

Please help!

Janet

since its a 96...i doubt it'll be repaired free of charge, unless the TSB called for extended coverage.

i dont have my manual with me so i couldnt tell you if its an easy job or not, but it would be good to just check all the hoses, and your PCV valve since this is an evap problem, there could be a clog/leak somewhere.

disconnect the battery for 15 minutes to reset the CEL after ur done checking.
