Default No instrument panel lights on our 97'

Hello,

None of the instrument panel lights work on our 97 Camry. I checked the fuse box under the hood by the left fender, and I did not see a fuse that seemed to be specific to the instrument panel. If it's there, how is it labeled? If elsewhere, then where? Could it be something besides the fuse that would keep all of the instrument panel lights from working?

The fuse box is behind the drivers side ash tray, far lower left side of the dash board, look for Panel fuse.

Finally got a chance to check those fuses today, none of them are blown .

So what else is something that could possibly keep the instrument panel lights from working?

Is it only the instrument panel lights?

Does the light rheostat still control brightness of the other lights?

Of the following what works and does not work:

Climate control lights
Radio and player
Glove box
If auto trans the light in the center shift console between seats illuminating the gear letters.

Climate control lights don't work, but the A/C button and rear defrost button lights do work.

The radio is aftermarket

The glove box light doesnt work

The auto trans light dont work on the console by the shifter, but the light works in the instrument panel showing what gear you're in.

The rheostat still works, it'll dim the A/C and rear defrost buttons. The clock that's on the right of the instrument panel also works.

All the lights listed in my last post get power from the same source, thus the fuse should be OK. The power is distributed by a couple of junction connectors to the various lights.

The glove box light, auto trans gear indicator light by shifter arm and radio use the same junction connector as the instrument lights. If possible check for power at the bulb socket in the glove box. If no power the problem could this junction connector. If power then the issue could be in the instrument light panel.

The gear indicator lights on the dash are on another circuit.

The rheostat working means the over all circuit is complete, the rheostat is on the ground wire side of the light.

The junction boxes may be on the far passengers side of car behind or above the kick panel on the side of the car.

Wiring for for power to all lights is Green, ground wires are black.

Default Glove box light off after new radio installed

Hi, Joe P, Toyomoho

I have a 2008 Camry LE. Recently, I upgraded my factory radio to an aftermarket dvd/gps/radio system. During the installation, there is a grey color 12-pin connector used to be plugged into the factory radio, not has no place to plug in to the new radio. The new radio works fine without this 12-pin plug. However, I noticed that my glove box light, climate control dial lights, and the trans shift light between two front seat are not working anymore.

I checked the 7.5 A fuse for the panel light, it's good.

As a part of trouble shooting step, I re-istalled the old radio back, and mistakenly plug the 12-pin plug to the old radios 12-pin soket, and all the above lights are working again.

Now, I know the 12-pin socket on the back of the old radio is for CD changer.

Since the 7.5A panel fuse is not burn out, do you think the junction connector to the globe box light is the problem? Where can I locate this junction connector, and do you know the part number for the 2008 Camry LE?

Thanks!!
