obd keeps car running

Default obd keeps car running

hello camry lovers...i recently bought a 97 camry with 171k mile with a blown transmission. fixed that but now the car will not stay running unless i keep my obd scan tool pulled in ( runs great when in) but will not start or stay running with tool out.....i replaced the temp gauge sensor and the pcm temp sensor and now when i turn the key the engine light is dimmly lit and temp gauge pins to max....but when scan tool is plugged in everything is fine and working.....?????? please help....roger

hhhhhmmmmm[sm=smiley5.gif]I've never heard of something like this before. I guess there might be a short somewhere on OBD's motheboard, but I'm not an electronics technician so I don't know. Maybe you can use the OBD tool to track down your problem.

You may have a bad ECM ground- it's grounding itself through your scantool- which is grounded through the OBDII connector.
