65 mph with my foot off the accelerator.
I have a 1997 4 cylinder Camry which starts and idles normally. As soon as I take to the highway it begins a slow acceleration on its own over about a 2 minute period until reaching about 60 miles per hour. Down hill it will reach 80 mph, and up hill it will slow to 40 all depending on the grade. Mind you this is happening with foot off the accelerator. How do I slow down, key off. Thanks Call if you can help. 208-964-3071
I have found the cause of uncontrollable acceleration in my 1997 Toyota. A small fist size clump of mouse nesting material was found on the air cleaner side of the throttle butterfly valve. Upon further inspection a hole the size of a quarter was found in the paper aircleaner element. This hole was made by hungry mice! Problem solved. I would like to thank those folks who responded to my post.
