Default 1998 Camry LE Gas Pedal Sticks

Ok I've been having this problem since I've bought the car and everytime that my car idles or waiting at a traffic light and right before I begin to hit the gas, the pedal sticks and to get it to go you need to slam on it which is dangerous when behind another car and people behind you can't understand why your taking a while to go. LOL. Solution???? I did search around and found that other owners said that something needs to be cleaned. Thank goodness its only something to clean and not something to replace. I have a whole list.
1. Air Bag Sensor
2. Left Front Strut
3. Gas Pedal
......

I can't imagine what the left front strut could possiably have to do with it?

go to walmart and buy a can on throttle body cleaner.

remove the air intake tube (big black thing) from where it meets the throttle body (shiny metal thing.) look down into the throttle body. it will be black. spray it down, wipe it out. repeat until its clean. then start your car. it will struggle to turn over at first. hold the gas to the floor, lots of pretty smoke from the tailpipe is normal after this.

i know this is an old thread but i had the same problem and yes, cleaning the throttle body fixed the problem for me as well as cleared up a rough starting problem i had.

it's funny, i had driven my mother somewhere while it had the problem and she commented 'how peppy' my camry was. i had to laugh to myslelf because the reason she said it was because every time we would take off from a stop it would snap your head back a bit because of the gas peddle sticking and then engaging suddenly. LOL.

I've been having the same problem but to a different degree. This has happened to me twice and is quite scary. First offthecar started off in a rough manner. Then the idle is rough, it hums really loud at about 1500 rpm . When I put it in gear the gas pedal was stuck to the ground, so the car moved, but 10 mph at most. Then after about a mile of this the car then suddenly accelerates, gas pedal still stuck, I put it in neutral but the engine redlined so i cut it off. When I started thecar back up it immediate started to redline again so I cut it off again. I turn it backon again and it was working fine. Very scary, dangerous, and wierd. Does anyone know what the problem with my car may be?
