burning smell oil in 2000 camry LE (4 cylinder)
Folks,
I have a 2000 camry with 160k miles on it. last week i did my routine oil change and the "check engine light showed up ". doing diagnosis, i found it is code P0420 ( analytical converter or inefficient fuel system). Then around two days ago i began smelling burning oil .
I am sure this is oil leak and is not good. but from where should i start. ??
Any ideas.
thanks

Are any leaks visiblble? Oil pump, cam shaft seal, distributer shaft seal, and valve cover gasket are the most likely suspects. Just changed oil? Filter leaking? I've had all of these. Usually the oil pump will show up as a puddle on the right side under the engine and/or It will wind up getting on the exhaust and may be burning off without hitting the ground very much. Get under the car and look at the back side of the engine. If you see oil clean it off with engine cleaner and look at it a day later to see if you can better identify the source.
