My wife is learning to drive standard on our 5-speed 96 Camry. After she inevitably stalls out, on re-start the engine idle drops below 500 rpms, and will immediately stall out unless she (or I) keep slight pressure on the throttle. This makes it . . . difficult to teach her. It will usually go away after driving for another twenty minutes, but in the interim whenever I take it out of gear I'm in danger of stalling out unless I keep light pressure on the gas.

The problem seems to be worse in cold weather.

Any thoughts?
