Default Hissing Noise

I have a 1992 Toyota Camry 4 cylinder car and every now and then when I go to start it up it makes a hissing noise, then I take try again and it happens again. The noise will happen about 3 times and then on the fourth time the car will start right up and run just fine. Anyone else run into this problem or think they might know what it could be. I was thinking maybe the starter but I don't think it happens ofter enough to be the starter maybe the gears in the flywheel? Please help.
