Default Repeated Engin light / misfire problem

My Camry is a 2000 4 cyl with 100K miles on.
The engin light was on 2 weeks ago. My mechanic said it is misfire and did a tune up.
Two days later, the engin light came back. Itwas the same problem and my mechanic checked and said one of the cyl had leaking problem.
He fixed it. Three days later (now) the engin light is on again.

Does any one have same experience?
How can I get rid of this problem?

Go to autozone or find an auto parts store that will read the trouble codes for free then post back with the exact code(s).

Can you define what the mechanic did in fixing the leaking cylinder?

Either your mechanic is an idiot, or, he is trying to make a buck. It appears to me that he has made two assumptions as to what the actual problem was opposed to thoroughly investigating the problem. Now you have to keep going back and having him repair it constantly....maybe im wrong, hope I am.

Prob are, many of hem are just parts changers, just go to a place that will diag. it for free, and resp withthe codes, a rebuild fro a leaky piston may be expensive
