Default Ugly sound Help!

Ever since one day I was driving at high rpm's to the limit, i've been hearing this clicking sound in the engine I have no idea what it is, and if its affecting my engine. But like a week later after i had started to hear that sound, everytime now when I am trying to drive at high rpm's it sounds like if air was coming out of somewhere, but I don't know where. But its not driving like before. Also it idles alot even though I did a complete tune up. Plus when i'm trying to turn it on it takes like 10, 15 seconds to start up. By the way I have a 1994 V6 Camry. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Default RE: Ugly sound Help!

First of all I have to say I am not a professional mechanic. I do not work in a garage all day long working on cars. I do love to work on cars and I own now and have owned in the past Toyotas. That said, here is my 2 cents.

From what Toyota mechanics have told me sometimes and I mean sometimes the clicking sound is the fuel injection. The injection has little switches that go on and off each time an injector shoots gas into the combustion chamber. Yes this happens thousands of time a minute. When they get used a lot, like high speed or a lot of miles they could get noisy. As far as the engine running at a higher idle, this is one thing you could try on your own. With the engine OFF, remove the air intake hose that comes from the air cleaner box, nearest the throttle body on the engine. Take a clean soft cloth, manually open the throttle plate on the throttle body and wipe the inside of the air intake opening with the cloth. It sounds like there may be a build up of gunk inside the opening holding the throttle plate open and run the cloth around the inside of the throttlebody. If you wipe out some gunk, you can do the following. Buy a can of Gumout Throttle body and fuel injector cleaner spray. YOU MUST BUY THIS TYPE OF CLEANER!!! The reason is that this product will not affect the oxygen sensor!! THIS IS IMPORTANT. While the engine is off again, hold open the throttle plate and spray the cleaner inside the throttle body. All around the opening. Then take a soft cloth and wipe out the inside as far in as your finger will push the cloth inside the opening. Clean out as much a possible. Make sure where the throttle plate seats in the opening the opening is clean. After that, use a liquid type of FUEL INJECTOR CLEANER, the type you put in your gas tank. This will continue the cleaning proccess. Once again I must say that this has worked for me on several of my many Toyotas. A Celica, 3 Camrys, and a 4 Runner.

You say that you have done a tune up, so this could be a continuation of that tune up. YOu didn't say how many miles were on the car but I will assume that it's over 50K. This cleaning may help the starting of the car because if the throttle is open just a little the throttle positioning sensor would tell the computer in the car that something was not completely correct.

Once again I will say I AM NOT A TOYOTA Authorized mechanic. This is something that worked for me, several times. There could be something else going on in the engine. Just a thought. When was the last time a timing belt was replaced in the car. This could also have something to do with the hard starting and not wanting to operate at higher RPMs

My 2 cents. I hope it helps.
