1992 Camry 2.2 Missing and won't idle without dying.

May be good news. Not starting may be easier to diagnose then this miss.
For timing belt, check if rotor is rotating when engine cranked. If OK, check for ign spark. Spark should be able to gap 1/2 inch of air, white colored spark is best.
If spark try applying throttle when cranking.
VSV is a electric vacuum valve. Should be closed at engine off and idle, no vacuum getting to EGR system from engine intake manifold. Being closed turns off the EGR system.
Has happened the signal coils inside the distributor fail. This can be checked for ohm resistance. Is the coil built into the distributor or separate?
