1992 Camry Stuttering and Bucking
Hey Everyone,
Truly a head scratcher that no one can figure out:
High mileage 1992 Camry that under any small load:
Acts like it is running up against a low speed rev limiter and for you drag racers out there - it is like setting the transmission brake against the MSD 2 step before launching.
It will rev in neutral - is not related to RPM or throttle position:
new distributor
plugs and wires OK
O2 sensor fairly new
coolant temp sensor ok
Fuel pressure 46 without running and 31 with the gauge bypass open with 1/8 line
Any ideas Please - Thanks Again.

Is this a real misfire/hard RPM limit or just lack of power?
Can you sneak up on the RPM when under load to not hit the misfire?
Have you tried measuring fuel pressure with the pressure regulator vacuum hose on (33-37) and off (38-44) at idle? How about fuel output?
Is the coil in the distributor and if so also changed? How do you know the plug wires are OK?
Are the alternator-battery (output and voltage), wiring (grounds and connections) OK? Low voltage can cause issues.
Did you do any recent work to the timing cam/crank/timing belt area? Are the pulleys tight on their shafts. No keyway issues?
