Question 1996 camry

I have a 96 2.2 camry that i just bought and check engine light is on i had it tested at autozone and they said that it was the code for the knock sensor but they couldn't tell me if it was the knock sensor itselfs or if there was actually a knock in the motor so if anyone knows which it is i would greatly appreciate any input thanks in advance the car also has 186000 miles

welcome to the Camry world.

knocking is due to low octane rated fuel and most people can hear engine knock or ping under load,
such as maintaining speed while climbing steep hill. if you can't hear it, you're good to go, imo.

if it is knocking you can still drive the car: 1) in practical terms it won't break. or 2) fill w/ premium fuel

[sometimes peeps put a bit of electricians black tape over the CEL if they don't
choose to spend the $ for a repair. just saying.]
