Default 2002 xle v6 alternator problem

2002 Camry xle 3.0 v6

Hi everyone,
A few weeks ago, my batteryindicator light came on and I took it to AutoZone.

They tested my alternator, and found it to be bad. While I'm removing the alternator, the 3 pin connector breaks and all I have are the leads.
From what I've been able to gather if I'm holding the connector with the locking tab on top with the female leads facing me, it will be L, IG, S (yellow/green, red/blue, white).

After replacing the alternator, belt, and new connector the output of the alternator is nothing. If I start the car, and let it idle for 2-3 minutes it will shut off.

measured my battery voltage with car off = 12.53
Measured battery while car running = 12.1
Measured from the alternator post while car running = 12.1

I checked the 3 pin connector and one of the wires does carry a voltage to the alternator.

I checked the fuse box in the engine bay and in the interior and found no blown fuses.

I had the alternator and batterychecked, both passed. In my head I was thinking the voltage regulator had to be the culprit, but I guess not.

Do I have my 3 pin wiring wrong?

Does the ecm control the voltage regulation in this car?

Anyone have any insight?

Sorry if this had been covered before, but I didn't find it via search.
Thanks.

How are the wiring terminals on the alt housing electrical plug arranged?

Any chance the two outside wire positions need to be swapped?

Looking at the male terminals on the alt, with connector lock at the top.

Right hand wire is yel/green. No 1 terminal. Wire goes to Alt icon on dash.

Center wire is red/blue. No 2. Goes to Gauge1 fuse.

Left terminal is white. No 3. Goes to ALT-S fuse.

To check for blown fuses. With engine off and ign key on, do all electrical items work?

Voltage between terminal 3 and ground should be 13.9–15.1v engine at 2000 rpm. 13.5–14.3v engine at 5000 rpm.

Between terminal 1 and ground should be 0–4 volts ign SW ON position and engine not running.

Problem solved.

I never checked the the voltages of the 3 wires when the car was on/running. From what I understand, ball 3 wires should show power. The red wire never showed.

Found that the wire near wear the terminal is crimped looked like crap. Made sure there was good contact between wire and terminal. Terminal showed power. Plugged it back in and problem resolved.

Thanks for the replies.
