So there are no visible screws/bolts at the lock mechanism? Do you notice any rubber bump stops position around where the door closes?

no visible screws or bolts, that is why I think they are behind the cap covers, possibly the door release button. 2 cone shaped Rubber bump stops in place near the ends, inside the box on the front, seem to be ok. I think it needs more.

I was referring to the door release button cover as a cap cover. Does one know how these come off ?
