i'm new to toyotas. i've only had this car a few months and it ran great. one day it died about a 100 ft from my house. it has no spark. i replaced the cap and rotor, coil and igniter, and a relay. still no spark. i see no bad fuses. also the fuel pump doesnt sound like its coming on. i've had 2 toyota mechanics at the house and nobody can figure it out. they both got code p1300.
any ideas?

also, what is the part called thats under the rotor in the dizzy? it has a few wires to it.

sure could use some help.

is there any common problems that would cause this?

P1300 1997 Toyota Camry Igniter Circuit Malfunction No. 1 OBDII Engine Light Trouble Code | Engine-Codes.com

I would double check all wire connections and harnesses.
Code P1300 is pretty vague but signal is not getting to the ignition system.
You might need to start the slow tedious process of tracing back through the harness to
see where you lose power.

we had a 3rd mechanic over. he changed the distributer, crank sensor, coil and igniter from a crashed, but running car. still no luck. he's scratching his head too. i did notice that the ECM has been replaced once already by the junkyard pen writing on it. IDK if this could be the issue, but he's picking one up. i'll post results.

 

You need to trace IGF/IGT circuit from igniter to computer to check for open or shorts.

Could also be computer.

 

I agree with Joey, check for shorts/bad connections. If the computer was replaced before, the previous owner might have had the same problem and thought that was the fix. Maybe wires shorted and cooked the computer and it had to be replaced but the root problem was never fixed.
