Default cabin air filter change questin

I have an 03 and 01 Camry which I want to change the cabin air filters. How do I get at the filter? I've read it is behind the glove box. Do I remove the assembly holding the box in?

Also, is aftermarket ATF OK to use in these cars or is the Toyota Factory fluid better? Thanks Tim?

do you not have the vehicle manual?
I'm not sure the 2001 has a cabin filter but i maybe wrong.

soemtimes when you purchase the filter it comes with instructions - this was the case with a bosch filter for our 2005 highlander.
it was not a difficult procedure.

aftermarket ATF is fine, so long as its the right ATF - type is listed on the dipstick - typically its Dexron III for the 2001. it maybe Dexron IV for the 2003.

Thanks for the info. My 01 Camry doesn't have a cabin air filter. I did some more digging after the post. I'll change out the ATF now,,,,,,,,,, Tim

OK. remove the glove box and trim around it. There will be the air box. There is a cover about 2 inches wide and keep in mind, you will be able to ber the cover off, but the filter will not come out. This is whet you have to do. If you have the glove box out and the lower trim off, you will see the plastic horizontal support that goes under the glove box. there will be two verticle lines on either side meant for you to cut it out to remove and replace the filter. Trust me, I didn't want to do it either my first time. you then discard to trimmed piece and you will forever be able to access the filter. Sounds out of the ordinary, but that is right out of mitchell and the aftermarket filter instructions. Good luck....amdsgd
