can't fill fuel tank
Hello all,
I'm new to this forum (but not to other auto forums) and need some help. I get some awesome info from these forums and am confident I will do so here also.
I am having an issue filling the fuel tank on my '99 Camry (no, it's not because the cost of fuel has gone back up
). The pump will dispense about .50 cents worth of gas and cut off, taking 10+ minutes to fill my tank. I've got some clues as to what it is, possibly a plugged vent or tube or the vapor canister. I have 169,000 miles on the Camry and really do not want to sink 600.00 into it to let the dealer just throw parts at it with the hopes of fixing the problem. Anyway, I can get a used vapor canister at a salvage yard near me but I have to remove it. Problem is I cannot find anything online telling me exactly where the canister is, I've been told it is under the hood "somewhere on the drivers side or passengers side". Talk about narrowing it down! Does anyone know exactly where it is located and the process of removing it? How difficult is it? I can do the job, I just want to know what to expect before starting it. Also, if anyone else has had this problem and resolved it I would appreciate any ideas in regards to that also.
Thanks in advance for your help!
