Default FYI Solved miss on 89 Camry

Finally found the stumble/stall/not start issue on our 89 Camry 4cyl.

The air flow meter had broken solder contacts under the sealed black cover. Normally one doesn't take these apart but when I slapped the thing while cranking the engine it would start. Re-soldered them, then resealed the cover till a used replacement is installed.

Bad contacts where the red dots are.

sometimes peeps forget that we have a small community here;
since we're trying to help each other learn, it's not a one way street.

Hat off to you. thanks for posting up the solution

Thanks UhOh,
I've learned so much on motorcycle, car, appliance, guitar forums, etc, over the years, it's good to give something back. We're not all trained mechanics with a shop full of tools but sometimes we get lucky.

Actually I sold the car today, to a mechanic. He chuckled when I told him how I fixed it. Not being factory trained I didn't know I couldn't fix it that way.

People often call me Mcgyvertric

Take care
Kit
