Default Fuel filter change

When should you replace the fuel filter? I have 57,000 original miles on a 2000 Toyota camry 4-cyl. It has never been replaced. No problems to report so far. But, should I replace it now or not?

Thanks to all who responds!

The can filter in the engine compartment seldom needs replacing. Signs might be lack of engine power but seldom is this caused by this filter.

Changing the filter can be more difficult then it appears as the fittings can be extremely tight and unless careful the fuel line can be twisted and the flare nut rounded over.

I also asked my dealer's service manager about the fuel filter replacement. According to him the fuel filter should last a life time. You only need to replace it if it has a problem or if it is causing a problem..
