Default Gas guage won't read Full

Filled on my 99 Camry CE for the first time today, just bought it last week, and after putting in a full tank, the gas guage won't go 3/4 tank, instead of all the way full. I know the tank was completely full when the pump shut off, gave it a couple of extra squirts to make sure it was full. Any idea what the problem is ? and the remedy ?

You'll have to check the fuel sending unit in the tank. I'm not sure how the 99's is set up. You will need an ohm meter and a reference to the proper ohm output for a full tank. My reference is about 2.0 to 3.0 ohms for full and 110 to 115 ohms when empty. First I would try something like Chemtool B12 in a couple of tanks. I have found that gas residue can affect the electrical contacts which affect the resistance,an additive tends to clean them up.
